In the early 1990's Lauren had become ill from a drug mis-diagnosis. She was bleeding internally and tried different medications prescribed by her doctor to stop it. Ms. Bortolami sought alternative therapies in herbal medicine and within two days the bleeding was gone. To compliment the herbal remedies, she was told to try Reiki for pain modification., but was very skeptical about this "healing energy"that was being taught in hospitals. Lauren received the first Reiki attunement in 1993 and herbal medicine courses and from that point on was "hooked".
Ms. Bortolami used Reiki for years on herself during pregnancy and pain, on her child, friends, and family but wanted to do more and help others. She recalls the day a firefighter knocked on her front door in 2001 when she lived in Andover. A few weeks before Lauren and her husband were evacuated from their family home because of a chemical fire burning nearby. The firefighter had injured himself jumping over an illegal fence that placed adjacent to the property. He heard that Lauren and her former husband were fighting the town over it as it was an emergency access for the fire department. From that day on, Lauren remembered the plea for help and wanted to help public safety personnel.
After witnessing the death of her father in 2005 and going through a difficult divorce, Lauren once again turned to expand her knowledge in Reiki for help and guidance to herself as well as others. Lauren became a Certified Reiki Practitioner in 2006, a Certified Reiki Master in 2007, and completed two programs in Spiritual Communication to understand life after death. The training helped her to become emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger to help others going through the same situations as she had with bereavement, illness, divorce, stress, and trauma.
